Were you born to be wild? I hope so because in wildness there is real freedom!
But first, we each need to ask our selves what freedom actually means TO US. Not something we assume we know, but real freedom and why we think just that.
This is the only way you can actually achieve the true freedom I so deeply want for you to know.
We also cover some personal updates at the end of the podcast, which is the 262nd episode I have recorded, give or take.
Wow. So it is time to really re-think and in my customary style, I over share on this topic....
But it IS at the end, so you DON'T have to listen!
Here is the second installment of the Vlog:
And with that I am signing out - so much to do today, so little time....
Such is life. See you on Friday!
Today is Martin Luther King day and in honor, I found this clip I wanted to play - it is in the podcast below:
And also here in video format:
And the words highlight the message for today: Focus on the process, not the end goal.
The work itself is the reward. To be the best you need to BE - consistent, disciplined, focused, vigilant, and willing.
That is the kind of you we are working on being while we are here. And, if this is you already, then pat your self on the back and take this time to just reinforce what you know you are and want to continue to be.
Muscles require consistent effort to maintain even minimum standards.
Our values, priorities, and character is the same.
Effort that focuses and fuels us to keep going where we want to go and not get lost or too tired to keep traveling.
But there is another message in all of this. WHY are you doing what you are doing?
Who benefits, how and why?
Fame and fortune may benefit the bold, but what are you doing with the fame and fortune?
On their own, what does it really matter?
The very core of the message we focus on is to VALUE LIFE. And we, each and every one of us, IS LIFE.
If we don't value our selves and the other lives around us, what is the point?
Temporary pleasure? Okay, but then what?
It is just another Monday here on the Survival Road - who will you be today?
I'm about 99% sure that most people do not ask themselves this question.
I do every day.
So, while I am creating this blog, podcast, etc. for you, it's just a window into what I value most in this life: FREEDOM!
However, I have no desire to create this kind of extreme experience to clarify the intensity of my own desire - or inspire you to want freedom for your self!
Freedom is obviously the topic for the podcast today.
But if you don't choose to listen, here is the short version:
You will pursue, create, experience, and desire what you value most.
You will also experience the opposite of it just to make sure you know what you want.
Most of us are making decisions based on our beliefs. That is why things are so crazy because no two people will EVER believe the same thing in the same way.
The next step in our evolution of working together needs to be value based decision making - I know, huge snooze fest....
But until we do in our private life, we won't in our public life.
Name the values you value and then make your decisions based on the top three values you hold.
Need some more focus and guidance on this? Download THE SURVIVAL SOLUTION WORKBOOK HERE.
It is a WORKBOOK for a reason....
But there is no better investment of your time than knowing what you value most and then creating a life to be just that value.
I am also going to talk about slavery as the opposite of freedom, so thank you to Stefan Molyneux for his overview:
The big takeaway for me was how much I didn't know and how proud I am of humanity that has chosen to find a better way.
You can't have freedom and slavery. You can't have freedom and not value life.
How much you value life is in direct proportion to how much you value freedom.
So, how much do you?
MORE RECENT POSTS + PODS!
You may have not asked your self this question lately, but it seems like a safe bet most of us have asked it at some point either in reference to our own life or someone else.
Today we talk about this from the point of view when it is happening to you!
The simple answer is that when we want to become something more the best way to do that is to be put in a situation that requires us to either become what we want or acknowledge we really don't want that.
This can be the practical as in "I want to be a farmer" and then after we've farmed a while we decide, nope, I don't want to be a farmer. Lesson learned.
It is also applied to the world of values I keep talking about. Do you want to be strong? Then prepare to have your strength both tested and tried.
Do you want to be happy? Expect to experience unhappiness just so you know the difference!
The same is true for wisdom, health, joy, abundance, purpose, meaning, courage, and the list goes on and on.
The key to surviving the process is to remember nothing is 'bad' in all ways. Being hungry feels bad in the moment, but it also lets you know that to survive you need to eat. Motivation to find food becomes much higher!
Abuse is labeled bad and at the time it is. But it is also the fire which forges many a hero. Which is more important in the end - the fact you were abused or who you became because of it?
It is a fact that most of us are just not motivated when we are comfortable, happy, content, and fulfilled.
We tell ourselves we WANT that, but after we get it most of us just get restless again.
There is a new challenge that calls, a new value to be pursued, or a new skill that askes to be honed.
Here are a few more questions to get you started:
Do you see the shift I am talking about?
We learn best from two points of contrast. If I give you vanilla ice-cream and then more vanilla ice-cream, how will you know which flavor you like best?
Of course as it is close to 10 degrees - neither would be my preference for today!
See you tomorrow!
It looks like Agenda 21 has hit our tiny town, huge sigh.... But there are a lot of good lessons to be learned and questions to be asked, so here we go:
The quick answers are:
1. Someone else to pay for it.
2. Someone else to do the work and/or be responsible.
Admit it, when you are really hungry and tired, who says no to a free meal?
Or stops to ask what is in the food, why are you giving it to me, and what are the long term consequences if I say yes?
We cover today:
1. Goals vs. Process
2. Evil is always easy on the front end, Good hard on the front end.
3. Why the dominant group wins when it comes to building systems.
4. How NOW is the time to build the new systems you want to live in.
It is a good podcast to help you focus not only on this Monday, but on the New Year!
It is off with a bang, so here we go!!!
Something went wrong!
